Website

A website built from scratch

From $849

Designed and built around your business, your customers and your own words. Fast on phones, set up for Google, and easy for you to update yourself.

Most websites land between $1,000 and $2,400, depending on size and features, such as analytics, a service finder, online booking or a quote form with photos.

Every website comes with

  • A design made for your business, never a template
  • Nothing goes live until you've approved it, and every claim on your site is one you've confirmed
  • Fast on phones, and checked at 11 screen sizes, including what a phone browser really shows
  • Search basics: page titles, descriptions and the business details Google reads
  • Contact forms protected from spam, without making customers solve puzzles
  • Security settings built in, so each page tells the browser exactly what it may load
  • The facts for your privacy page: what your forms collect, where it's kept and who sees it
  • Your old site moved with care: features kept and old links sent to the new pages
  • The KD Site Editor, built on proven open-source software and customized for you: click a word or photo on your live page and change it

Branding

A logo and brand you're proud of

$849

A brand that holds together everywhere your customers see you: your site, your Google profile, your signs, your trucks and your invoices.

The branding package includes

  • Two or three logo directions, each shown the way you'll really use it: in colour, in black and white, as a profile picture and as the icon in a browser tab
  • Checked for what it could be mistaken for, and for how it holds up tiny and in one colour, before you see it
  • Your colours and fonts, and a one-page brand sheet showing how to use them
  • A complete set of logo files in every layout and colour, with favicons and app icons, ready to open anywhere
  • A search of Canada's trademark register for marks close to your name, with a short report of what's there
  • Naming a new business? Ontario's business-name registry, the .ca and .com addresses, Google Maps and social usernames checked too

The trademark search is a search, not legal advice, and I don't file applications. If you want to register your mark, I'll give you the facts to take to a trademark agent.

See how my sites compare, platform by platform

My own measurements, taken on 13 October 2026: the home pages of 7 sites I built against 77 local business sites, most of them in Hamilton and the Brantford area. Each figure is the middle result (the median) of its group; pages that blocked the test are left out of the file count. Speed: Chrome sized as a Pixel 7 phone over simulated 4G (9 Mbps down, 60 ms added delay); my sites had three runs each. Security: Mozilla's free HTTP Observatory.

How does your site score?

Mozilla's HTTP Observatory is free. Type in your web address and see your grade in a few seconds.

Compared with local business sites

The same measurements, by platform: 7 sites I built and 77 local business sites, most of them in Hamilton and the Brantford area (WordPress 27, Wix 14, Squarespace 10, GoDaddy 8, other 18). The dot is the middle result; the line covers the middle half.

How to read these charts
  • Each row is a group of sites: mine at the top, then local business sites by the platform they're built on.
  • The dot is the typical site in that group, the one in the middle.
  • The line shows where most of the group falls (the middle half).
  • For speed and files, further left is better. For the security score, further right is better.

The details

Done on real projects

Each of these happened on a recent client project. I've left the names out.

A first look within days

On two recent projects, the client saw a preview of every page less than four days after signing, with work done over the weekend.

A trademark search with the logo

With a new logo, I also searched Canada's trademark register for marks close to the name and its letters, and wrote up what's there. It's a search, not legal advice.

Your web address, secured early

When a new business needed its web addresses, I registered them before we'd signed anything and billed them at exactly what they cost.

Layouts compared side by side

When a layout wasn't working, I put three versions side by side and scored each on its looks, on a phone and against the client's brief. The client only saw the one that won. I now build longer forms as step-by-step finders, one question at a time.

Logo ideas shown in real use

Each logo option came on a board: in colour, in black and white, as a profile picture and as a browser-tab icon. When the owner sent an idea of their own, I redrew it and tested it beside the others.

Guided through every step

Step-by-step guides for a client's own accounts, with every button name checked against each company's help pages. Then the hosting and the site editor were set up inside those accounts.

Email planned around the move

Before moving a client's web address, I compared all 18 of its DNS records at the old and new servers. Every one matched before the switch, and their email checked out after it.

Business email that's ready to use

For a new business, I set up email on its own domain: shared inboxes for bookings and general questions, signing that other mail servers trust, and a test message traced to the inbox.

Your words, checked against the site

Before a client sees the full site, I check each page against everything they've sent me, and anything they haven't confirmed stays off.

Old listings found and reported

An old Google listing under a client's former business name was still showing their phone number. I reported it as closed, and Google accepted the edit.

How I work

Built in small releases, with you in the loop

I work in releases. You plan each one with me and approve the design before I build it out. Once it's live, your feedback and real results shape the next one.

I build the release, then test it before you see it again: on phones, tablets and computers, for speed and security headers, and with its forms sent end to end.

  • speed + security
  • forms end to end
  • A simple website is usually one release. A platform is several, each live and useful before the next begins.
  • Each release is planned and priced on its own, so you only commit to the next one.
