Recommerce system
For one-of-a-kind and pre-owned stock: every piece photographed, priced from real sales and listed in each place you sell from one record
In use on KD Archive
The problem it solves
Every piece is one of a kind, so each needs its own photos, research and price. And when it sells in one place, it has to come down everywhere else before someone buys it twice.
Recommerce means reselling pre-owned goods. I built this system for my own designer resale shop, with one record for every piece I sell. The slow work runs on its own: photos prepared, the description written and checked. Each piece is priced from what the same piece really sold for, with the evidence on one page. I approve each piece once. Then it's set up for each place I sell from the same record, and my own shop website updates itself. When it sells, I get the list of everywhere else it must come down, and the shop marks it SOLD.
How it works
Photos in, prepared
Drop in the whole batch. Photos are grouped into pieces, location details come off, the light and backdrop are evened out, and weak shots go on a reshoot list.
Priced from real sales
The exact model is identified, then priced from what the same piece actually sold for, with the take-home after fees and postage in each place you sell.
Approved once
One review page with the photos, the price evidence and the listing text. A plan shows every change before it happens.
Set up for each place, and the shop updates itself
Each place you sell gets its own version from the one record: title, price, description and photos in your order. Your own shop adds the piece in about a minute, after safety checks and a real-browser test.
Sold, and a list of where to take it down
Record the sale once. You get the list of every other place it must come down, and your shop marks it SOLD.

Photos of each piece
What happens
Photograph each piece and drop the whole batch in. No sorting, no renaming.
Under the hood
- Grouped into pieces by when each photo was taken
- Duplicates set aside, nothing deleted
- iPhone photos converted automatically
02 · Your software
Prepared and checked
What happens
Location details come off every photo. Each one is turned upright and sized, the light is evened out, and the backdrop is brought to one even grey. Blurry, dark or missing shots are flagged.
Under the hood
- Location data removed before any photo leaves your computer
- Backdrop levelled with an image-segmentation model; the piece itself untouched
- A check for focus, exposure, resolution and the shots each kind of piece needs
02 · You
A reshoot list
What happens
A missing or weak shot goes on a checklist for the next photo session. New shots are added without losing the old ones.
Under the hood
- One checklist for every piece
03 · Your software
Identified and looked up
What happens
The exact model is identified from labels and codes. Materials come only from the brand, an authorised retailer or the care label. Then it's priced from what the same model, in similar condition, really sold for.
Under the hood
- Sold results first; asking prices only when nothing sold
- Thin or scattered evidence flagged "don't price from this"
- Every source kept in a research database
04 · Your software
Priced and written up
What happens
A suggested opening price, a lowest acceptable price and a quick-sale price, with what you'd take home after fees and postage in each place you sell. The listing text is written from the facts on file, then fact-checked.
Under the hood
- Take-home after fees and postage, side by side
- Real postage rates
- One price rule shared by every listing
05 · You
You approve, once
What happens
One review page with the photos beside the details, the price evidence and any questions. Fix anything, then approve. Before anything changes, a plan lists every change, piece by piece and place by place.
Under the hood
- A review page that saves straight to the database
- A "what-if" plan of every change before it happens
- A history of every change
Approve from your phone
What happens
Review and approve from your phone, photos included, behind a sign-in only you can pass.
Under the hood
- A private review page behind a sign-in
06 · Where you sell
Set up for each place
What happens
Each approved piece gets a version for each place that suits it, with its own title, price and description from the one record.
Under the hood
- One record, a version per place
- Each place's own rules kept (title lengths, photo rules)

Safety checks for your shop
What happens
Your own shop website is updated from the same record. First a 45-second wait turns a burst of changes into one update, then every unsold piece needs a price and photos, and nothing private or shaped like an address, phone number or email may leave.
Under the hood
- A 45-second wait so a burst of changes becomes one update
- Public fields only, checked field by field
07a · Your shop website
Your shop updates itself
What happens
The piece gets its own page, a photo gallery, filters you can share as a link, and a preview image when the link is shared. Every page is opened in a real browser at phone and computer size before anything goes live.
Under the hood
- A real-browser test at phone and computer size before publishing
- Static pages on Cloudflare Pages
07b · Your shop website
A problem found
What happens
If a check or the browser test fails, nothing is published. The live site stays on the last good version, and the refusal is logged.
Under the hood
- Every refusal logged
08 · Your software
What's due today
What happens
A list of what's due: scheduled price drops and listings to refresh, from your own rules.
Under the hood
- Price-drop steps you set once
A weekly price-drop digest
What happens
Once a week, the price drops that are due, approved with one tap.
Under the hood
- A scheduled job
09 · You
Sold, anywhere
What happens
Online, in person or cash: record the sale once, and the fees, postage and take-home are worked out.
Under the hood
- Fees and take-home recorded per sale
10 · Your software
Where to take it down
What happens
You get the list of every other place it's still listed, with direct links. Each take-down is recorded, so nothing stays up by mistake.
Under the hood
- A take-down list per sale
- Each take-down recorded
11 · Your shop website
Marked SOLD
What happens
Your shop updates by itself: the piece keeps its page, marked SOLD, with the price and buy buttons gone.
Under the hood
- The same checks as any update
See it working
The shop this system keeps up to date. Sold pieces are marked as sold, and pieces I also list on eBay or Grailed link to those listings.
